John F. Ackers, of Hollidaysburg died at his residence. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Richard and Margaret Wolf Akers. He married Ruthann. He formerly worked as a counselor at the children's Home at Williamsburg. He was a 1968 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School. He was a 1976 graduate of York College with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and counseling. He was a life member of Phoenix Volunteer Fire Company. He was a member of Blair County Allied Fireman's Association, the Central District Fireman's Association, Blair County Fire Police, a volunteer with the Hollidaysburg Ambulance Service, Neighborhood Crime Watch, Friends of Pennsylvania Military Museum at Boalsburg and Friends of the Hollidaysburg Free Public Library. He is survived by his wife of 28 years; a son, a sister, a brother, and several nieces and nephews.
