Mechanic. Born to Evelyn Edwards (nee’ Alcantara) and the late Norman Huggins in Trinidad and Tobago. At an early age he left his birth place and migrated to Brooklyn, NY with his parents and his now late sister Kathy-Ann.He attended school in Brooklyn for a period of time until Far Rockaway became his home. There he attended St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic School and Far Rockaway High School. During his childhood he travelled back to Trinidad to visit as well as taking road trips to Canada to visit family. This is where his love of long drives came from. After high school he relocated to Florida to live with his father. His love of cars, mechanics and music grew during this time. He returned to NY in the early 90’s just before the untimely death of his sister Kathy Ann in 1992. Re-establishing his NY roots, he became employed at Waldbaums, where he met his wife Colleen, from this union, two children was born, son Nathaniel and daughter Carissa. He was a family oriented man and expressed his love for his mother, wife, children and siblings. He would do anything for them and would give his last if he had to. Through his mechanical work and his kind hearted giving nature, he fostered several relationships that was maintained to this day. Nigel maintained employment as a mechanic throughout the years and was employed doing what he loved the most with the Port Authority. His second love, music, was displayed during various West Indian celebrations in which his Trinidadian pride was expressed. May 7, 2020 Nigel was re-united with his Heavenly Father, his earthly father Norman and his sister Kathy-Ann, after a brief hospitalization. He leaves to mourn, his mother Evelyn, children; Nathaniel and Carissa, brother; Elijah, sisters; Ecaterina, Sabrina and Sophia, uncles, aunts, nephews; Jovon, Reese, Kingston and Sirr Carter, nieces; Tzippora, as well as extended family the Alcantara’s, the Huggins, the Peters and a host of friends.
