Loving father of Lois Fowler of Hughesville, MD, Diane Delahay of Leonardtown, MD, Sara Brown of Roseville, CA, Faye Reid of Waldorf, MD; grandfather of 12, great-grandfather of 14, great-great-grandfather of two, brother of Marie Bassford of Annapolis, MD, Loretta "Tiny" Taylor of St. Mary's City, MD, Sister Sara Ann Abell, SCN of Louisville, KY; brother-in-law of Shirley Abell of Compton, MD.


Also survived by three dedicated caregivers, Dorothy Fenwick, Dorothy Goldring and Charles Fenwick.


Friends will be received on Tuesday, March 1, 2005 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the BRINSFIELD FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 22955 Hollywood Rd., Leonardtown, MD 20650. Prayers recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Mechanicsville, MD. Interment will follow in St. Aloysius Gonzaga Church Cemetery, Leonardtown, MD.

Husband of Lucie Ann Dunbar [1912-2001]; father of Lois Ann Abell Fowler of Hughesville; Diane Dunbar Abell Delahay of Leonardtown; Sara Ann Abell Brown of Roseville, California; and Fay Cecilia Abell Reid of Waldorf. Three of his sisters were members of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth [SCN] - Nazareth, Kentucky: Sister Sara Ann, Sister Alberta Maria & Sister Pauline.


Attended St. John's College, Annapolis; worked of National Biscuit Company; later owned J. Frank Abell Vending and operated Frank Abell's Steak House, Charlotte Hall & the Benedict Pier, Benedict, Charles County.


Past president of the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department; Charter Member and past president of the Mechanicsville Lions Club; 4th Degree - Knights of Columbus; past commissioners of the Tri-State Thoroughbred Racing Association.


Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Mechanicsville, by Father Alliata.
