Birth: Dec. 30, 1884

Death: Dec. 23, 1948
Tokyo Metropolis, Japan

Japanese Prime Minister and war minister during the Second World War. At the end of the war, he was arrested as a suspected war criminal. After proceedings of an International Military Tribunal for the Far East which lasted more more than two years, and during which Tojo accepted his responsibility for much of Japan's wartime policy, he was found guilty of having a major responsibility for Japan's criminal attacks on her neighbors and was sentenced to death. His ashes are divided between the Yasukuni Shrine and the Zoshigaya Cemetery. (bio by: Warrick L. Barrett)
