The following appeared in the Macoupin Enquirer (Palmyra Items) on Wednesday Feb. 3, 1892:
James Braden died last Saturday afternoon after a little over two weeks sickness of La Grippe and lung conditions. He was buried Sunday in the Hollingsworth Cemetery. He leaves a wife and four little children. He was married to the former Mary Ella Quick and had the following children, James Milton, Charles Henry, John Allen and Ada Belle.
