Mrs. Abernathy, a resident of Dickens County since 1914, had been ill for about the past six years. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Mr. and Mrs. I. E. Abernathy were married November 11, 1895 in Itasca, Texas. They made their first home in Brazos County.
Survivors include her husband, 2 daughters and 2 sons: Vivian Gibson and Gladys Lee, Spur; W.E. Abernathy, Pampa and D.S., Odessa. 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren survive. Pallbearers were J.E. Bachman, Harold Anderson, Lester Ball, Joe King, Wilburn Ball, G.W. Grimes, George Nally and Ollie Hindman. Interment was in Spur Cemetery.
