William David Grove, 71, of 1503 Ohio St. died at 2:42 a.m. Monday at Waynesboro Community Hospital after a long illness.

Mr. Grove was a member of the West Waynesboro Church of Christ and had been employed by the Du Pont Co. here from 1940 until his retirement in 1961. A former resident of Beech Grove, he resided in Waynesboro for the last four years.

He was born in Nelson County on Nov. 25, 1898, a son of the late William Samuel and Lucy Campbell Grove.

In addition to his wife, Mrs. Eunice Tice Grove, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. William L. (Louise) Hughes of Waynesboro, Mrs. E. Elwood (Doris) Campbell of Fredericksburg, and Mrs. Bruce (Althea) Dodd of Lovingston; one son, H. Page Grove of Waynesboro; one sister, Miss Mickey Grove of Waynesboro; one brother, Hunter Grove of Halifax, N. C.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 21) in the chapel of the Etter Funeral Home conducted by Phillip R. Forehand and the Rev. Kenneth R. Paquin. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Church of the Brethren Cemetery near Waynesboro.

Friends will be received from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to the Waynesboro First Aid Crew.

Pallbearers will be W. Stanley Mays, Bernard Painter, Wesley Truslow, David Dodd, Wesley Gum, Staige Falls, Cameron Lovegrove, and Warren Cook.

Honorary pallbearers will be Houston Huffman, Edmon Hogsett, John Hensley, Jack Raybourne, Harold Campbell, Leonard McGann, Dr. Thomas L.
