Attorney George A. King, 72, of 1524 Roosevelt Ave., Steubenville, OH, died at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday in Ohio Valley Hospital. He was a graduate of Follansbee High School and took his pre-law course at Bethany College. He studied law under Judge Frank R. Gusweider of Cincinnati and the late Sen. Ray N. Merryman of Steubenville, and was in the law firm of Weiner and Minor of Cleveland. Mr. King entered the practice of law Dec. 13, 1937, and became eligible to practice in Federal Court Sept. 25, 1939. He served as secretary and treasurer of the Jefferson County Bar Association for five years, is a member of the Masons, Ohio State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association, a life member of the National Rifle Association, belongs to the LaBelle View United Methodist Church, and served in the medical department at Walter Reed Hospital. He was active in politics and was engaged as a promotor of professional wrestling for three years. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Helen Duplaga King, a son, George T. King of Wintersville, and a daughter, Mrs. Helen Jung of Steubenville. He was born Dec. 23, 1904, in Follansbee, WV, the son of the late George and Mary Sokolowsky King. Friends may call at the McClave-Chandler-Mills Funeral Home, downtown, from 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday; services there 10 a.m. Friday; the Rev. Richard E. Ferrell, Fort Steuben Burial Estates. His favorite charity was the National Arthritis Foundation.
