Walter was born in Kirkliston, Linlithgow, Scotland 6 Oct 1821 to James Ainsley Glenn and Agness Margaret (Marshall) Glenn. 13 Aug 1848, Walter married a woman named Elizabeth McIntosh Stewart in his hometown of Kirkliston. The next year, their first son James was born to them there as well.

In the early 1850's they migrated with multiple of Walter's siblings to America from Scotland. In 1854, Walter, Elizabeth, James, and Walters siblings all joined up with the William E. Empey wagon comapany and crossed the plains of America to a place called Salt Lake City in Utah, where they wound up in September.

One month later on 24 Oct 1854, Walter, Elizabeth, and James ventured out from Salt Lake, to a place that is now called Wellsville, Utah. James being FIVE years old at the time.

Walter was one of the first pioneer settlers of Utah. He is mentioned in multiple books, including WINDOWS OF WELLSVILLE, and the books titled PIONEERS AND PROMINENT MEN OF UTAH (Volume 1, and Volume 2). Information for Walter is also kept on record with the "Daughters of the Utah Pioneers" and the LDS Church (where Walter was a prominent member). There is also information concerning Walter as one of the men that entered into the "Echo Canyon Campaign", as a Mormon Malitia group that fought against the US government 1857-1858. (You can get minimal information on Echo Canyon on Wikipedia under "UTAH WAR")

Walter, wife Elizabeth, many (but NOT ALL) children, and many generations after them have been born AND died in Wellsville, Utah. They are each buried in the Wellsville City Cemetery.
