Well Known Woman Had Resided in Edinburg For Past 28 Years

EDINBURG, Mar. 2. Mrs. Eliza Wirey Coy, 70 years old, passed away Thursday afternoon at 3:45 at the home of her son, Wilbur Coy, following a week's illness of pneumonia.

Mrs. Coy was born in Brown County July 28, 1863, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Wirey. She had been a resident of Edinburg the past 28 years. She was a member of the New Bethel Christian Church.

She was married to William Theodore Coy, November 18, 1883, and to them, four children were born. The husband preceded her in death five months ago. Three children, Harvey Coy, Mrs. Pearl May Wray and Miss Viola Coy also preceded the mother in death. Surviving her are the son, Wilbur, three brothers, Jacob Wirey of Gleason, Ind.; William Wirey of Edinburgh and Charles Wirey of Franklin and one sister, Mrs. Barbara Stillabower of Brown County and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Edinburg Methodist Church. Rev. Ray Bozzell will conduct the services. Burial will be made in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Rites for Edinburg Woman to Be Held There Saturday Afternoon

Edinburg, March 2 – Mrs. Eliza Wirey Coy, 70, widow of William Coy, died yesterday afternoon at her home on Pleasant Street after a week's illness that developed into pneumonia. Mr. Coy died a little more than three months ago.

Funeral services in charge of the Rev. Ray Bozell, of Old Union, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Edinburg Methodist Church. Interment will be made in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Mrs. Coy had lived here for 28 years, having come here with her husband and family from Brown County, where she was born July 28, 1868, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Wirey. On Nov. 18, 1883, she married Mr. Coy. She was a member of New Bethel Church and was a faithful attendant until her age hindered her.

Surviving are one son, Wilbur Coy of Edinburg; three brothers, Jacob Wirey of Gleason; William Wirey of Edinburg, and Charles, of Franklin; a sister, Mrs. Barbara Stillabower, of Brown County, and eight grandchildren. Three children, Harvey, Pearl, and Viola, preceded her in death.
