Anna was one of thirteen children born to Jacob Amacher and Magdalena Shantz. The family resided in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada prior to moving to Livingston Co, IL in 1870. Their family was of the Mennonite faith.

Anna married William Yerk on Aug 26, 1890 in Livingston Co, IL. They had eight children: Ernest Edward, Mabel Elizabeth (Renken), John Elmer, Algin Lee Roy, Lula E (Knoll), Charles G, Venus Irene (Tool) and Sophia Myrtle (Ewing).
