Charlotte was the daughter of Henry Adams and Margaretha Misslich. She was named Carlotta Adams at the cemetery where she is buried but she was called Charlotte Mary Adams on her will and death certificate in 1914. In the 1870 U.S. Census, she was Charlotte Adams and in 1880, she was called Mary C. Adams. In 1900, she was called C. M. Adams and she worked as a housekeeper for a clergyman named J. C. Schulte in Arcadia, Iowa. Charlotte was single when she died. Her cause of death was heart failure.

Charlotte left an estate valued at $12,457. Her will dated 16 Jan 1914 at Carroll, Iowa left $1,000 to her brother, John Q. Adams; $1,000 to her sister, Mrs. Hubertina Hengell, $5,000 to be invested for her sister, Josephine Adams; and $100 to her niece, Margaret Adams (Sister Adelle).

The remaining money (about $7,100) was to be used for her funeral and monument; masses for herself and parents; St. John's Church & Chapel in Arcadia, Iowa; church choir & singers at present of said church; St. Anthony's hospital; Industrial School for girls; $157 at her private direction, Catholic Missions; Indian & Negro missions; St. Francis Seminary in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin for education to the priesthood. Rev. Jos. A. Schulte of St. John's Church in Arcadia, Iowa was listed as executor.

On 1 June 1932, a letter was sent by an attorney in Milwaukee to Rev. Father Goebel of Pewaukee, Wisconsin stating their was nothing mentioned for the care and upkeep of the family burial lot at SS Peter & Paul's Cemetery at Duplainville, Wisconsin in the will of Charlotte Adams. No report was ever filed by the executor of her estate and the executor had died about two years prior. The attorney mentioned Rev. Schulte made a lot of poor investments.
