LABAT, Edouard March 17, 1934 - July 9,2007. Rosary will be recited, followed by Mass of Christian Burial, at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2007, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1515 Baker Street, Bakersfield, Calif. for Edouard Labat who died July 9, 2007 in Bakersfield. Private interment will be at Lancaster Cemetery. Edouard had lived a number of years in Gardenerville, Nevada. He enjoyed stream fishing, and especially loved playing a Basque card game called mouse. He was closely associated with the Basque community in Kern County. Survivors include his daughter Angele Paez; son Tony Labat and wife Taunia; nine grandchildren; and brother Louie and sister Anna living in France. Visitation is scheduled Thursday July 12 from 2:00p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Doughty-Calhoun-O'Meara, 1100 Truxtun Ave., Bakersfield, Calif. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Edouard's memory to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
