Ruth was born in Karnes City, Texas, to the late Henry and Amelie Krueger Tiemann. She grew up in New Braunfels, where she graduated from high school and attended nursing school. She married William W. McLennan on December 7, 1940. As a military wife, she lived in many states and the Island of Guam. She was a lifelong Methodist and was active in her church wherever she lived. This was especially true in Clifton. She and her husband farmed and ranched near Clifton from 1958 until her health forced her to move into Clifton. Ruth loved to play bridge and 42, entertaining and visiting with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988; son, William Henry McLennan, in 1996; sisters, Gladys Holtermann and Lillian Herring; and three nieces.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Douglas William McLennan, of Abilene, and Sharon Elizabeth McLennan, of Zephyr; nephews, John Holtermann, Jr., of China Spring, Reverend David Lehmberg, and Robert Truhlar Jr., of Lincoln, Neb.; sister-in-laws, Sally Jo and Robert Truhlar Sr., of China Spring, and Louise and Rex Dee, of Oklahoma City; brother-in-law, Lone D. McLennan and wife, Helen, of Spring; nieces: Ruth Carole and Marvin Schutza, of Athens, Ga., Jean Ann and Carl Ortmann, of Ft. Worth, Stephanie and Greg Scaefer, of Spring, and Mary Lou and Todd Frauen, of Lincoln, Neb.; cousins, Don and Judy Gordon, of Crockett; and many great-nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
