Lydia Howland, the fifth known child of John Howland and his wife, Elizabeth (Tilley) Howland, was born about 1633. She was married by about 1655 to James Brown, a son of John Brown, Gent., of Wannamoisett, and his wife, Dorothy Brown.

This is a cenotaph found at Burial Hill in Plymouth, Massachusetts, placed by the Pilgrim John Howland Society. Lydia (Howland) Brown is actually buried at the Ancient Little Neck Cemetery in East Providence, Rhode Island.
