Lucy was the second daughter of Charles Franklin and Mary Ann (Butts) Adams. She and Joseph Austin Hayes were married on August 16, 1921 and to this union were born five daughters- Wilma May (Hayes) Shaw, Alma Faye(Hayes) Hodges, Leta Marie (Hayes) Lankford, Elva Pearl (Hayes) Moore and Melva Mearl (Hayes) Moore.
She is survived by four daughters; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two sisters- Mrs. Bessie Hogue of Cabool, MO and Mrs. Minnie Ussery of Mtn. Grove, MO; many nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends who loved her very much and now have a big missing piece in their lives.
