Henry's parents are unproven, however, some of his possible siblings/cousins and/or parents/uncle may have been those who also appeared with Henry in the 1850 Amenia, Dutchess Co NY census, where Henry with his wife and child are living in dwelling #651; Perry Hall (bca. 1813) and wife are living 6 houses away in dwelling #645; James Hall (bca. 1820) and wife are living 7 houses away in dwelling #658; Ezekial Hall (bca. 1775) and wife Elizabeth (bca. 1775) are living 9 houses away in dwelling #660.

Henry and Amanda's only known child was Maria "Elizabeth" who was first married to Henry Reynolds (Civil War fatality) and was second married to Daniel Poffenberger. Elizabeth died in 1875, after Henry and Amanda had moved to Northern Missouri.

By 1860, Henry and Amanda are living in Carroll Co Illinois. By 1870, Henry and wife Amanda have moved to Missouri and are living by Amanda's brother's family, that of Theren "Theodore" Small. The 1880 census for Harrison Co Missouri, shows living with Amanda and Henry an "adopted daughter" named Sarah, born about 1862 and a "son" named Benjamin, born about 1856 in Indiana. This Benjamin is probably the "Benjamin Carter" listed in the 1885 census for Ellis, Hardin Co Iowa, living in the household of Amanda's brother, Stephen Small, since Benjamin is listed as being born in Indiana in 1856, like he was in the 1880 census. As well, in the 1860 and 1870 census for Amanda and Henry, there's no previous record of a son, therefore this "son" Benjamin was either adopted after 1870, and/or was a close friend or child of the Hall & Small families, or the census enumerator was in error, since the ages for Amanda and Henry are erroneous in the 1880 census as well. In 1898, Henry and Amanda Hall's 40 acre farm is found in the plat map of Grant township, Harrison Co, Township 64 North, Range 27 West, in section 21, living next door to Amanda's brother's family, Theodore Small.

Another Henry and Amanda Hall were living in Caldwell Co Missouri, at the same time, and of the same approximate age with children, not to be confused with these Halls.
