John Paul Baarck, 64, a lifelong resident of Mount Clemens, died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, in St. Joseph's Medical Center, Clinton Township. He was born Sept. 4, 1942, in Mount Clemens.
Mr. Baarck married Linda Johnson on Aug. 29, 1964, in Mount Clemens. He retired from the National Bank of Detroit, where he worked as second vice president. He was chairman of the Mount Clemens Housing Commission and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he was active on various boards. He was a member of the Old Crowd and a life member of AMVETS Post 29. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing and spending time at his cabin.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Eric (Stephanie) Baarck of Frankenmuth and Jolyne (Michael Smith) Baarck of Mount Clemens; and grandchildren, Kelsey and Jakob Baarck, and Colvin and Evan Smith; mother, Lydia Baarck of Mount Clemens; siblings, Charles (Judy), Arthur, Gary (Carol), Carol (Richard) Lehr and Brian (Kim); mother-in-law, Virginia Reed; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Donald Karl Baarck, on July 26, 1993.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 38900 Harper, Clinton Township, with the Rev. Kenneth Wise officiating.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Friday at Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, 233 Northbound Gratiot Ave., Mount Clemens. Additional visitation is 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church Music Fund, the Mount Clemens Public Library and AMVETS Post 29 Burn Center.
