Marysville Evening Democrat - 4/22/1920, p8 - Mrs. Emma Brophy Dies At Home Of Daughter Yesterday - Yuba City, April 22.-It was with much sorrow and regret that the many friends here of Mrs. Emma Brophy learned of her death which occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. C. Harter at Escalon, San Joaquin county, last Wednesday evening. - Mrs. Brophy has been a resident of this county for a long time. Her maiden name was Emma Cathern and she lived at the home of her brother, Robert Cathern, near Harkey Corners, until 1870 when she was married to Thos. Brophy, a prominent resident of this place, whose death occurred many years ago. They lived in Yuba City most of the time. She was 72 years of age and a good Christian woman, kind and neighborly and ever ready and willing to help in time of sickness and trouble. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Harter, and three grandchildren. - The funeral will be held this Friday afternoon, at four o'clock, services at the Yuba City cemetery, where the interment will be made.
