OBIT
BETTY JANE KELSO

LAS VEGAS, NV - Betty Jane Kelso, formerly of Manti, died in Las Vegas, Nevada, December 13, 2003, at the age of 72.

Betty was born December 1, 1931, in Manson, Arkansas; to Duel Glen Going and Georgia Lee Cox.

All who knew Betty cherished her, she was kind and generous, with a delightful demeanor. She was an exceptional mother, wife, and grandmother.

Betty never faltered to help her children when they needed her. Betty was a gentle soul full of love in everything she did. Her love for her family and friends seemed to burst at the seams. She had a great compassion for people.

Betty loved to do all kinds of handiwork, crafts and sewing. All through her children's early years, she would sew for them. Betty could cross stitch anything, and loved to crochet delicate dolies and large afghans. All recipients of Betty's articles treasured them.

Betty was a great cook and a strong believer of family values. A mother of six, Betty always found time to prepare superb full course meals, all spread across the table including dessert. It would amaze one to see all she could accomplish.

Betty loved the Lord and prayed to him unceasingly. She knew Jesus was our Savior and believed in him passionately. Betty had accepted the Gospel of Jesus Christ and decided to be baptized in the LDS Church, but was awaiting removal of a dialysis port that could not get wet.

Now she and her husband Donald (he passed away October 22 this same year) will be baptized by proxy and sealed in the temple together.

Betty had a delightful sense of humor, always ready to laugh at a joke. This was an essential attribute to have, with humorous family members, and a husband who could not wait to tell his next joke.

Betty was preceded in death by her father and mother, Duel Glen Going and Georgia Lee Cox; her husband, Donald Gene Kelso; and a daughter, Cheryl Ann Kelso who was killed in a car accident; and a nephew Joel Tavis Coffey who was killed by being electrocuted while working.

Betty is survived by her children, Donna Kelso, Las Vegas, Nevada; Janice Olsen, Ephraim, Utah; Melinda Cote, Las Vegas, Nevada; Tony (Heidi) Kelso, Mt. Pleasant, Utah; Melba Lolmaugh, Michigan; a brother, Duel Jr. (Alice) Going, Cabot, Arkansas; sisters, Helen Wilson, Jacksonport, Arkansas; Jackie (Bennie) Tolbert, Jacksonville, Arkansas; Ruth Ann Coffey, Vilonia, Arkansas; Shirley Heermans, Rowlett, Texas; 13 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 22, at 11:30 a.m. at Magleby-Rasmussen Mortuary, 96 North 100 West, Mt. Pleasant.

Friends may call from 11 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services.
