Major League Baseball Player. He played his entire career in the American Association with Louisville and St. Louis. "Toad" struck out 499 batters in 1886 (to finish second to Matt Kilroy's record 513), the second highest ML total ever. He won 38 games that year and 37 in 1887 when he led the league in strikeouts with 355. He had a 114-124 Lifetime record over 6 seasons, with a 3.24 ERA.
