Corporal, a supply technician with 5 Battalion Services based in Valcartier, Quebec. Aged 27, from Montreal. He is survived by parents David and Debbie Deliva, siblings Lorraine, Lindsay and Tommy, along with aunts, uncles and extended family.
Cpl. Deliva was killed when the 10 tonne truck he was driving flipped and crashed at CFB Wainwright in Alberta. He was on a six-week assignment to help prepare vehicles and equipment for the next rotation of troops headed to Afghanistan.
He joined the Canadian Forces in September 2000. He was remembered by a colleague as "a very high performer and a hard worker appreciated by everyone for his sense of humour".
His family's statement said, in part, "He was a great fan of the Boston Bruins, and loved to call his father after a game to talk about them. One person Christopher admired in particular was his grandfather, a 93-year-old World War II veteran with whom he loved to have a wicked game of cribbage, a game he learned from him."
Funeral Mass held at St. Gabriel's Church, 2157 Centre Street, Montreal on Saturday, June 2, 2007.
