CRIDER, Doreen Matilda 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 18, 2007. Doreen was born January 28, 1920, in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Henry and Elsie Hahn. Her father was 69 years old when she was born and died when she was 11; so she, 1 brother and 2 sisters, were raised by their widowed mother. She had fond memories of her childhood, growing up on the prairies of Saskatchewan, but always ended her stories with how cold it was there! Her family was a part of the Brethren in Christ Church, also known as "Dunkers". After completing high school, she carried on with secondary education at Niagara Christian College, Ontario, Canada, Messiah College, Pa., completing her degree in 1950, at Upland Bible
College, California. After her schooling, California became her home where she always declared she was "finally warm" year round! She became a U.S. Citizen in 1955, married Walter Dietz in 1958, and moved to Palmdale. Walter was killed in an auto accident in 1961. Doreen worked for the PSD as a substitute teacher, and became very involved at the Palmdale Foursquare Church, teaching Sunday School and being the leader of the UFW. She married Jack Crider in 1969, losing him in 2003. She will be remembered by her son Rae of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, a sister, Enid, from Cranbrook, B.C. and by many nieces and nephews, both in Canada and the U.S.A. Doreen's strong Christian faith, love of reading, cooking and crafts, and dear friends sustained her many years. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, May 31, 2007, at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Palmdale followed with a luncheon at Home Town Buffet in Palmdale, at 2 p.m. You may e-mail your condolences to the family at [email protected].
