William Dennis Tyree died on December 15, 2018 at Southerland Place after declining health for a few years. He was born at home on November 25, 1927, the second child of the late Frank and Sallie Lee Tyree of Lewisburg. Billy Tyree excelled on the football field at Marshall County High School, being named All-Midstate. He received a scholarship to play ball at Vanderbilt University while completing a degree in mechanical engineering. As a senior at MCHS he was voted president of his senior class.
While a sophomore at Vandy, Bill began an internship at Southern Shoe Machinery Company in Nashville, Tennessee. A 45-year career at SSMC began at that time in the tool and die industry, working his way up to Plant Manager and Vice-President before retiring on his 65th birthday.
On June 12, 1948, Wm. D. Tyree married Mary Lou Peery and together they reared four children. Less than three weeks before his 87th birthday, Bill married Annabelle Marie Crisler on November 7, 2014, who survives. It was her second marriage.
