Bettie Allen Poovey, 82, of Conover, died Sunday, May 20, 2007, at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. Poovey was born Aug. 30, 1924, in Benton County, Wash., the daughter of the late Grover Hill Allen and Frances Rognon Allen.

She loved family and had a special hand for flowers and antiques. Mrs. Poovey was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Hickory.

Survivors include a brother, Charles Allen; children: son, Morgan Shepherd (Cindy) of Conover, Morgan Shepherd Jr. (Leslie) and two children of Newton, Cindy Caldwell (Roger) Chad Clint of Newton, Debbie Lundy (Ken) Steven and Ashley of Statesville, Chrissy Crabtree Bradley Justin of Conover Terri Miller (Dayne) Josh, Abbey of Claremont, Shanda (Scott) of Charlotte; daughter, Joan Moore (Bill) of Stow, Ohio, Will (Jessica) of Ohio, Bob (Jennifer) Emily, Tyler of Ohio, Stephanie Oliver (Jerry) Bryce of Ohio; daughter, Edna Winston (Winslow) of Shelby, Danny and Tony Darnell Alexander Tonio of Shelby; daughter, Barbara Earnhardt of Hickory, Heth of Texas, Seth (Shannon) of Sherrills Ford, Danny of Hickory; and Karen (Don), Heather Forbes, and (Adam, Sadie) of Conover.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Hickory. The Rev. Phil Vos will officiate. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park.
