After naming the nine children of Claron Albert and Ida (Worden) Magee, i.e., Lottie, Nellie, Mildred, William, Frank, Nina, Edith, George and Louis (himself), he goes on to provide short biographies of each of them, in order, Lottie through Nina, but stops abruptly at the bottom of page 15, without addressing Edith, George or himself. At the time he is writing, which comments in his text suggest is the fall of 1978, he, Edith and George were the only children of Albert and Ida still living. Edith will die that December and George in September of 1980. It's possible that Louis was only comfortable writing about his dead siblings. He outlived them all, so maybe there is a more complete version of his "History" out there somewhere.
What Louis did not write about, and, I think, probably never intended to write about, was his father's second family, i.e. Albert's second wife Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Webster) Magee and the six children he had with her. All that Louis had to say, at least in the 15 pages that I have, is the following, from what is in effect, his preface:
"What my memory shall supply at this time is mostly the result of what our father told the family during the long evenings of winter months, or when he and I were working together husking corn in the fall, or riding in the buggy, or wagon on long trips. I spent my first twenty-two years with him helping him raise his second family, without remuneration beyond my board and room … [except] when I was employed elsewhere….."
That's it. Except for mentioning that their half-sister Myrtle Stebbins had helped take care of Nina once when Nina, at about age 84, had fallen and broken her leg, Louis does not refer by name to any other of his half-siblings nor to his stepmother. Barely a year old when his mother died, he couldn't have had much memory of her, but at about age four when his father remarried, he was old enough to resent the intrusion of his new step-mother and, later, the children she produced, as an unfair burden on himself while he was still living at home.
