Actress. Born Concepción de Andrés Picado in San Sebastián, Pais Vasco, Montenegro was a star of the 1930s cinema. After working as a model and dancer, Montenegro turned to dramatic acting and became a star on Spain, France and Germany. Then, Montenegro came to Hollywood in 1930 with a contract at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and later with the Fox. Montenegro appeared in films such as "La Femme et le Pantin," "Strangers May Kiss," "Never The Twain Shall Meet," "Cisco Kid," "The Gay Caballero," "Caravane," "Hell in the Heavens," "La Vie Parisienne" and "Eternal Melodies." In the early 40s, she married actor Raoul Roulien, and they toured for South America, before her return to Spain. There, she worked in "Yo soy mi Rival," "Rojo y Negro" and "Lola Montes" (1944), her last film. Then, as Greta Garbo, she left the cinema, and ever refused to be interviewed about her career and life. She died in Madrid, Spain.
