Addalaid (Adelaide?) (went by Ada) Victoria Douthit was the sixth of seven known children of George Douthit (1811-1892) and Nancy Sprinkle (1813–1876), who married 14 Oct 1835 at Davidson County, North Carolina. After Nancy died, George remarried to Mrs. Lucetta Blackburn Boner (1837-1909) on 31 Jul 1879 at Davidson County, North Carolina and were the parents of one known additional child. It is not known where George is buried.
Ada married Emanuel Jacob Spaugh (1838–1925) on 22 Dec 1870 at Davidson County, North Carolina . Ada and Emanuel were the parents of ten known children, namely:

After Ada died, Emanuel remarried to the widow Mary Jane Ewing Kirby (1848-1935) at Bradley County, Tennessee. It is not known how Emanuel and Mary met. Emmanuel and Mary did not have any known children. Mary moved to North Carolina to live with Emanuel, and after Emanuel died Mary moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky where she had been born.
