In early adulthood, Jacob and brother Richard moved to Marengo County, Alabama. Richard owned land there, but I cannot find that Jacob did.
Perhaps that (or NC) is where Jacob married his first wife, (name unknown). About 1828 probably in Alabama, a son, Alamanzo, was born to him and his wife. Jacob also had a daughter, Catherine (named in honor of his mother) who was born in Alabama about 1830.
Jacob married Mary Brindle abt 1837. She is said to have come originally from NC. The date and location of the marriage has not yet been found.
By 1838 Jacob and Richard had returned to Missouri, and both had established farms in Scott County, MO, possibly near Sikeston or Kelso. Both are near the Missippi River.
A daughter, Priscilla Alice Finley, was born to Mary and Jacob 31 Dec 1838 in Scott County, MO. Then came Nancy Jane, Benjamin Franklin, Mary Catherine, Thomas J, George Washington, Virginia Josephine, James Barry, and Silas O.
Mary and Jacob lie at rest on a peaceful bit of farmland near where they also farmed and raised their children.
