Dick or Dickie Snow in Taliafero's Fisher River Tales.
Dick and Sarah settled on a large farm in the Oak Grove Community on the Round Peak Road. The best of company, even the "quality " visited his home. On one occasion the Misses Franklins, daughters of Meshack Franklin (an early Congressman), came to spend the night. Dick was unacquainted with "quality ways" and when the ladies retired to bed upstairs they said to Dick "Good-night." He didn't now what it meant and it worried him. He kept studying about it. Early the next morning he watched the stair steps until he heard the ladies coming down. As they opened the door he said loudly "Good-mornin at ye ladies. I's fast anuff for you this time, now I'll quit ye as we's even, you got me last night, I's got ye this mornin."
Original site of Dick's grave was on the Snow farm, but with construction of I-77, the graves in the cemetery had to be moved,Richard and Sarah's graves were moved to Round Peak Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Surry County,NC because they were in the way of the south bound lanes of the interstate highway.
