Palmdale, Dec. 21 - Funeral services were conducted today for William Peter Helfrich, widely known weather prophet of Antelope Valley.
For 30 years, since he homesteaded a ranch in the Bellview district, the cattleman-astronomer-meteorologist had been making long-range weather predictions which satisfied his friends and neighbors, men whose livelihood depended on foreknowledge of rain or drought. He also was a linguist and botany student.
Mr. Helfrich was born in Friesland, the Netherlands, and was educated there. He came to the United States in 1896.
