Here is the record. I came across a listing of cemeteries on Family Search, in Jefferson County, WI, compiled by the Jefferson County Genealogical Society in conjunction with the Jefferson chapter of D.A.R. This list was compiled sometime around 1950. On the list for Muro Cemetery: James R. Dye, d: May 2, 18(65?) AGE: 72 Yrs, 9 Mos, 9 days.

Added Note: If this death date of May 2, 1865 is truly accurate, than his actual b/d would be July 23, 1792.

Added Note: Per the information recorded below from Sarah (Dye) Grants obituary, James R. Dye moved from Jefferson Co. , New York to Jefferson Co., Wisconsin after the death of his 1st wife, Sally (Fox) Dye in April 1833. He brought with him. His new wife, (Name unknown),that he married in September 1833, in Magraw, Cortland Co., NY, his youngest daughter, Electa, and his widowed sister-in-law, Sophia Fox. His new wife then died. He then married his 3rd wife, the former, Mrs. Sally Palmer, who had 3 children, Deborah, William & Dewitt. and who outlived him, as her tombstone clearly reads, "Sally, Widow of James R. Dye".

J.R. Dye, wife, Sally, and her children, Wm Palmer, Dewitt Palmer, Deborah (Palmer) Kings, and her son of 6 months, William Kings.

Living Next door: C. S. Crittendon, wife, Louisa, and their children, Charlotte Crittendon, Alfred Chittendon, and Sophia Fox, 73, 1787, CT.

Added Note: Sophia C. Fox is supposedly buried in the Hillside Cemetery, Whitewater, Walworth Co, WI, beside her daughter, Louise S. (FOX) Crittendon.

Also Living Next Door to them: Rev. William Dye, his wife, Ann. and their children, Mary, George and William Dye.

This is the family of James R. Dye's brother, Rev. William Henry Dye and his wife, Ann (Bailey) Dye. The family later moved to Nemaha County. Nebraska, which is where Ann is buried.

Added Note: James Walter Dye, married his 1st cousin, Mary E. Dye, daughter of Rev. William Henry Dye and his wife. Ann (Bailey) Dye, and both are buried in this cemetery.

The following is an excert from his daughter,
Sarah (Dye) Grants obituary;

"Sarah Dye was born October 1, 1825, in Jefferson County, New York, and lived in that state until she passed eighteen, when she went to Hebron, Wisconsin, where her father was living and her youngest sister, Mrs. Electa Shafer. She was at Hebron two weeks when her sister died, and then she kept house for her father who had lost his second wife after he moved to Wisconsin.

Her own mother died when she was only seven. After the death of her sister, she went to teaching and taught until married to Willard Grant at Hebron in 1847."
