LAKE CITY -- The funeral for Eunice D. Brunkhorst will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel, in Lake City. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Lake City.
Mrs. Brunkhorst, 84, a lifelong resident of the Lake City area, died Saturday (April 21, 2007) at the Lake City Nursing Home.
Eunice Roper was born Feb. 26, 1923, in Lake City and grew up on her parents' farm in Mount Pleasant Township, Wabasha County. She married Arnold Brunkhorst on Sept. 22, 1942, in Lake City. They farmed in Lake Township, Wabasha County, for many years until moving to Lake City. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City and the Lake City VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, tending her flowers, and playing cards and bingo, and loved putting puzzles together and playing the piano.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet (John) Plank of Lake City and Joyce (Larry) Hoeft of Yuma, Ariz.; a son, Leon (Terri) of Lake City; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Verneil Johnson of Red Wing. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 2, 1986, a grandson and a brother.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, and an hour before the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
