William Augustine was born January 1863 in IL or possibly OH. Washington Deaths of 1891-1907 list place of birth to be Canton, OH. The 1900 census lists Illinois. He married Hattie Starr circa 1895; Hattie was the daughter of William Henry Geyer (W.H.G.) and Sarah Jane (Leonard) Starr.
His obituary in The Daily Ledger of Tacoma, WA, courtesy of Gretchen Campbell, provides additional information: William Augustine of Orting, who was operated upon at one of the city hospitals last Thursday for stomach trouble, died Wednesday evening at 6 o'clock. Mr. Augustine had been a sufferer for years and was removed to the hospital in the hope that an operation would save his life. The disease had too strong a hold, however, and he succumbed to its ravages. The deceased was a member of Koquilton Tribe No. 63, Order of Red Men, at Orting, also a member of the Order of Pendo. The funeral will take place Sunday at 2 p.m. at Orting. Mr. Augustine is survived by a widow.
