Gustav was 5' 10", thin and had a moustache. He was meticulous. He went to bed every night at 10:30 p.m. and rose early every morning. He knew a lot about horses and trees. He worked for Park and Tillman Stables in NY City. There was a horse that was hard to deal with and he threw one of the owners of Park and Tillman. Gustav went into the stall and calmed the horse. The owner was so impressed he offered Gustav a job right there. Before long Gustav was in charge of 40 horses. He became a U.S. citizen on August 26, 1891.
Gustav's wife, Anne, preceeded him in death sometime between 1910 - 1930. He then lived with his son, Gustav Francis, daughter-in-law, Lillian, and grandson, Howard, until his death.
Howard, now 85, still misses his Grandfather, Gustav. Thank you, Howard, for letting the rest of us Bradlers know what a wonderful man Gustav was.
Thank you to my Aunt Ruth who took the pictures of Gustav Bradler's Gravestone. Gustav's son, Gustav F. and wife Lillian are also on the stone.
