Raymond served as a Staff Sergeant & Radio Operator / Gunner on B-25D-1 "Hell's Fire" #41-30278, 500th Bomber Squadron, 345th Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in New York County, New York with his mother prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on March 12, 1942 in New York City, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Shipping and receiving clerk and also as Single, without dependents.

B-25D #41-30278 took off, with a crew of 6 and other B-25's, on a strike mission over the Sulawesi, Indonesia area.

They were shot down by Japanese fighter aircraft and crashed at the base of Mount Tongkoko north of Sulawesi, Indonesia.

Raymond was "Killed In Action" in this crash during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

Raymond was originally interred overseas and was later interred here at the Municipal Cemetery, Yabucoa, Puerto Rico in 1949.
