Liz was the daughter of Charles William Conway and Paula Jane Redmon. She was the mother of twins, Lillian Rose and Liam James Hacker, and sister of Charles H. "Charlie" Conway, Shannon Brown, and Jessica Conway. She was a beloved granddaughter of Patsy Ann Roberts Andrews whose middle name was given to Liz in her honor. Her given name was in honor of her maternal great-grandmother, Elizabeth Bridgeford Roberts O'Neal.
Liz was a native of Frankfort, Franklin County, Kentucky and spent her entire childhood there. She also lived in Richmond, Madison County, Kentucky, where she attended Eastern Kentucky University; California; and Elizabethtown, Hardin County, Kentucky.
