Louis C. Brandenburg, veteran Batavia carpenter and contractor, passed away at Community Hospital, Geneva, of a broken neck and other injuries sustained when he fell several feet to the ground while working on a barn on the Herman Dreibrodt farm at Winfield Corners in DuPage County last Friday.

Mr. Brandenburg was engaged in shingling the barn when he slipped and fell from the scaffold. He was rushed immediately to Community Hospital and lived until Monday night despite the broken neck. A verdict of death from an accidental fall was returned by a jury at an inquest held Tuesday morning at the Hollister Funeral Home by Coroner Herman J. Vierke.

Mr. Brandenburg was born in this city, April 6, 1864, and had spent most of his life in Batavia. He has served as an Elder of the Bible Students Association for 17 years.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Mabel [sic] Epple and Mrs. Grace Johnson, and one son, Paul, all of Batavia. Two sisters, Mrs. Emma Kersten of Aurora and Mrs. Carrie Benn of Woodlawn, California, and one brother, Theodore of Batavia, also survive.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the home, 109 South Prairie Street, Elder Krebbs of Rockford having charge of the services. Interment was in East Batavia cemetery.
