Birth: Apr. 7, 1735
Rockingham County
New Hampshire, USA
Death: Apr. 7, 1823
Rockingham County
New Hampshire, USA

Mary Woodburn, youngest dau. of John Woodburn by his 1st wife Mary Boyd, b. Apr. 7, 1735 at Londonderry, NH. She d. at Londonderry Apr. 7, 1823 (g.s., aged 88.)

The printed Londonderry VRs claim Mary was born "Apr. 7, 1734-5," a date in the old Julian calendar not requiring a double year indication in the modern Gregorian calendar. Only Mary's first sibling, Ann who died in infancy, is included in the original records of Londonderry's 1st Town Book. In the 2nd Town Book, which copied births from the 1st Town Book, Mary's date of birth is stated as "April 7, 1734." However, her gravestone reads "Died April 7, 1823: aged 88 yrs." If "aged" in her inscription was intended to indicate she died ∆tatis suś (i.e., ∆, "Aged," in the XX year of her Age) 88, she was then actually 87 years old at death b. after Apr. 7, 1735. If her inscription misuses the word "aged" (not uncommon beginning in the early 1800s), she d. on her birthday exactly 88 years old and b. Apr. 7, 1735.

On Apr. 16, 1765 of record at Londonderry, Mary m. George Reid, s. of James Reid and his wife Mary. Based on the apparent misuse of the word "aged" in George's own gravestone inscription, he was b. AFTER Sept. 17, 1732. He would become a prominent military man for New Hampshire prior to, during and after the Rev. War. He d. at Londonderry Sept. 17, 1815 (g.s., ∆ 82.)

Mary and George had five recorded children at Londonderry, a summary which will be added later.
