He was born April 7, 1937, in Anderson, Ind, and lived in Madison County all his life.
He retired in 1988 as an engineer from Delco Remy Division of GM.
He was a member of Markleville North Christian Church. He was a member of the Markleville Masonic Lodge 44 F & A.M., Sottish Rite Valley f Indianapolis, Midwest Tool Collector Association, Missouri Valley Wrench Club, Buick Club of American and American Numismatist Association. He was active in the Indiana State Fair from 1977-1994 and was the antique judge for the fair from 1994 to 2004. He is survived by his mother Anna (Damon) Pottorff, wife of 21 years, Dianna (Markle)Pottorff; daughter Anita and husband Andy Marsh of Anderson; son, Robert Alan Pottoff of Markleville; stepdaughters, Amy and husband Brandon Blackwell of Shirley, and Anessa and husband Chris Conley of Anderson; sister, Ruth and husband Raymond Seal;grandchildren, Lauren Marsh, Christopher Marsh and Daniel Pittman; mother-in-law Christina Markle of Markleville; sister-in-law Sharon Pottorff of Indianapolis, seven stepgrandchildren; a niece and two nephews; and special loved dog, Magnun.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Pottorff, in October 2003. His father Robert Paul Pottorff Sr has since passed.
The family support the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
