VICKERS, Virgil
77, a 51 year resident of Boron, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2007, with his family at his side. Virgil was born in Greensboro, Fla., on September 19, 1929, as the fourth of six children to the late George and Sarah Vickers. He was drafted into the Army in 1954, and was eventually transferred to Edwards AFB as part of the Army Corps of Engineers. After ending his commitment in 1956, he and his wife, June, settled in Boron where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for U.S. Borax until he retired in 1994. Virgil was an avid gardener, hunter and fisherman. He will be remembered for his tomatoes (which he would give to everyone he knew), his sense of humor and good natured pranks and his commitment to his family. He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, June Vickers, children Terry Vickers of Boron and Debbie (Vickers) Pietrzykowski of Brockport, N.Y., and five grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Margaret Williams and Joyce Gentry and their families of Tallahassee, Fla.

He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, June Vickers, children Terry Vickers of Boron and Debbie (Vickers) Pietrzykowski of Brockport, NY and five grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Margaret Williams and Joyce Gentry and their families of Tallahassee, FL.
Services were held at the First Baptist Church of Boron on Wednesday, March 21st at 11:30 a.m.
