Shirley Rose Nichols Armitage, 72, of Lower Burrell died Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at Alle-Kiski Medical Center, Harrison.

Born May 29, 1932, in Lower Burrell to the late Harry and Mildred Bookwalter Nichols, Mrs. Armitage was a 1951 graduate of New Kensington High School (Ken-Hi) and worked as a secretary for Nick Chevrolet, Tarentum, for 28 years before retiring in 1997.

She was a member of Springdale Open Bible Church and was an active missionary for the church, making trips to Asia, Africa and Europe at her own expense to spread the word of Jesus.

She was the beloved mother of Terrye (Albert "Butch") Yockey III of Dublin, Ohio, Sandy (Dale) Archibald of Lower Burrell and Kimberly (Gary) Hagan of Knoxville, Tenn.; twin sister of Ronald H. Nichols of Syracuse, N.Y.; and grandmother of six.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Nichols Friel.

Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where a service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. Officiating will be her pastor, Rev. Don Frye. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
