In 1945 at the end of the great war he came home from England where he flew thirty six missions and was shot down twice over Germany. He married his high school sweetheart Jan. She passed away Nov 2, 2011. His belief in strength through God, hard work and family is his lasting legacy to his distant heirs. He believed that "Everything is within our grasp if we persevere." Said his son Gary. Music was a large part of his life, he was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed playing all types of music. At home he could be found working in his shop or reading in his den. He loved and was in awe of his country America and believed that all challenges are solved with equal parts perspiration and inspiration.
