"Captain Elijah Brewster married at Norwich, Connecticut, January 25, 1749/50, Elizabeth, daughter of Peletiah and Elizabeth (Choate) Fitch, born at Norwich, March 24, 1732, and died there, May 12, 1776. He died at Norwich, October 10, 1803, and was buried in the Brewster Cemetery.
They lived at Norwich. Elijah Brewster served in the Revolutionary War; was appointed April, 1780 "captain of the 5th Company of the Alarm list in the 20th Regiment of Connecticut."

The gravestone of Captain Elijah Brewster is in very poor condition and rapidly disintegrating. The inscribed surface of the stone is progressively flaking and the inscription is becoming increasingly illegible.
