She was Valedictorian at her high school and earned a Bachelors Degree in Business with a Minor in English from NMSU which, at the time, was known as New Mexico A&M.
She met Bernard Johnson Romig at the university and they were married, after their graduation, on June 11, 1939. They were married for more than fifty years and together ran a successful dairy farming operation, outside of Las Cruces, for much of that time.
Mary Helen was a life long member of the Methodist church and an active member of St. Paul's Methodist Church in Las Cruces. There she served as secretary, helped in the nursery, taught Sunday School, and played in the Bell Choir. She was also an active member of The Order of the Eastern Star in Anthony, NM, serving a term as Worthy Matron, and as their organist for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers Charles Adams and Robert Adams.
She is survived by her sister Peggy Randolph. Children: Helen (Gary) Sparks, John (Debra) Romig, Charles (Deborah) Romig, and Mary Anne LeDuc. Grandchildren: Christopher Boone Herrick, Lauren (Jerad) Gose, Derek (Magan) Romig, Hilary Romig, Lora LeDuc, and Caitlin (Erik) LeDuc. Great grand children Patrick Romig, CJ Romig, Remy Wiley, Dayle Gose and Shelby Gose, as well as nieces and nephews and their children from all over the USA.
Arrangements provided by La Paz-Graham's Funeral Home. An Eastern Star graveside service was held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
