Death of Mrs C M Allen
Mrs C M Allen, formerly of Snelling, died at the Waldeck Sanitarium, San Francisco, Saturday afternoon last while undergoing a surgical operation for a tumor. Her sudden death was a surprise and shock to her many friends here and in Snelling, as it only known to several of her close friends that she was to have an operation performed.
The lady was a native of Massachusetts and 55 year s of age. she came to Snelling in 1870 from New York in company of her brother, the late John Truesdale. After a residence of five years in this county she removed to San Francisco where she made her home for ten years. In 1886 she returned to Snelling residing there until about three months when she removed to the city. Mrs Allen was possessed of a kind and benevolent disposition and was never happier then when she was in the performance of some kind and charitable act to the needy and destitute. She was proverbial for her attention and kindness to the sick and these acts of kindness and care were shown at the bedside, when she was so ill that she was hardly able to be around herself. she was devoted to her brother, the late John Truesdale and we hope that they are now happy in the spirit land where care and trouble is supposed to be unknown and love reigns supreme. She leaves a son, Charles Allen, and a daughter, Mrs Wm Short of San Francisco, to mourn her loss.
The funeral took place Tuesday afternoon from the little church among the oaks at Snelling. The internment was by the remains of her late brother in the Odd Fellows cemetery at Snelling, there to rest until the great Judgement Day.
