Clifford J Alston Sr., 90 went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ peacefully on Thursday June 18th, 2015, with his children by his side. He was born in Wilson County on February 8, 1925, to Ancel J. Alston and Mary Frances Edwards Alston Steward. Clifford was a sweet, gentle soul who enjoyed being with his family more than anything. To Clifford “God, Family & Country” was everything.

Clifford joined the US Army at 17 serving in both World War II and Vietnam. He proudly served 24 years. Clifford married the love of his life, Virginia Lacey June 12, 1948. After retiring from the Army he and Virginia settled in Del Rio where they purchased and ran a restaurant for many years. In 1986 they returned to the area they hailed from and settled in Camp Wood where he lived the remainder of his days.

Clifford is survived by his children Linda Gilmore of Dallas, Clifford Alston Jr. of Camp Wood, Donnie Alston & Stacy of Camp Wood, Robert Alston & wife Debra of San Antonio, James Alston of San Antonio & Stephanie Sifuentes & husband Ricky of Camp Wood; brother, Arthur Alston of Houston; 18 Grandchildren; 20 Great Grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Virginia, 1 sister and 5 brothers.

A Memorial service will be held Saturday, June 27, 2015, 3 p.m. at the Hill Country Church of Christ in Camp Wood, Texas. Burial of the cremains will follow at the Barksdale Cemetery, with Military Honors.

Arrangements are under the personal care of Nelson Funeral Home of Camp Wood, Texas.
