He was predeceased by his parents, Jackson Alexander and Minnie Lerah (Elrod) Sanders, and his first wife, Emma Ruth Ferrell Sanders, the mother of his children.
Surviving also are a daughter, Maxie Fuller of Liberty; three sons, Jack Richard Sanders, Thomas Eugene sanders, and James David (Jimmy) Sanders, all of Greenville; sisters, Mallie Burton and Bessie Blanton of Piedmont, Arilla Puckett of Rock Hill, Ivadelle Spearman of Williamston; brothers, William (Bill) Rufus Sanders of Greenville, and Hubert Samuel Sanders, of Danville, Virginia; 20 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services will be announced by Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m Sunday at the Funeral Home.
