A native of Casey County, Mr. Owens was born Nov. 10, 1874, the son of the late William and Rachel McDonald Owens. He had made his home in this county for the past 60 years.
Mr. Owens married Sarah Cassada June 27, 1896 and 10 children were born to this union.
He was a member of the Christian Church for many years.
Mr. Owens is survived by his wife; eight daughters, Mrs. Della Dunning, Mrs. Jessie Waddle, Mrs. Bertha Roy, Mrs. Opal Curnayn and Mrs. Betty Feuchter, all of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mrs. Virginia Haney, Nancy, Mrs. Eva Hill, Somerset, and Mrs. Rae Hartwig, Japan; two sons, Arthur Owens, Cincinnati, and Lennie Owens, Ringgold.
He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Lyda Stringer, Somerset; three brothers, W.C. Owens, Florida, Clyde Owens, Pleasant Hill and Arvel Owens, Newport, Ky.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Ringgold Methodist Church, the Rev. L.D. Fisher officiating. Burial was in the Somerset Cemetery.
