Capt. George M.Worthington was a world War II veteran. He helped form Company B, 3rd AIB, 144th Inf, Combat B, 49th Armored Division, Texas nationa Guard on 19 Dec 1949. He was company commander of Company B until it was merged into Commpany C in Tyler, Texas. He was commander of this unit when it was mobilized with the 49th Armored Division on 15 Oct 1961 during the Berlin Crisis and went to Fort Polk, La. to train for a year. He was later transfered to battalion staff as motor officer.
In civilian life George was a cattleman and truck farmer.
